About Highland Business Association

History of Highland Business Association

The Highland Business Association (HBA) was chartered in 1953 and has promoted business, trade, and civic leadership ever since. The HBA has taken an active role in creating commerce and helping to develop the Highland Village and its surrounding shopping area. Formed by local business owners, the non-profit HBA continues to work with not only local property owners but also the City of St. Paul to keep the Village a thriving place to work and live.

Throughout the history of the HBA, whatever issues were important to the economy of Highland were the primary focus of this organization. From the early days of supporting the Highland Little League to the more recent renovation of the Ford Bridge, the HBA has remained steadfast in their goal to see business flourish, including the 1985 $4 million Highland Village Improvement Project.

What We Do

Networking Events

Each month the HBA provides its members with an opportunity to gather together for an informative networking event. Breakfasts, luncheons and evening events are rotated so members have equal opportunites to attend multiple events each year. Each event features a speaker who brings timely information to our group. Speakers this past year have included the FBI, an expert in sales and an expert in adapting change in your workplace. The HBA also sponsors a "Breakfast with the Mayor" in conjunction with the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, which takes place annually.

Seasonal Promotions

The HBA sponsors not only Highland Fest, but our Annual Meeting/Silent Auction in January, Trick or Treat in Highland each October and Breakfast with Santa each December to help increase traffic throughout the Village.
